Xi Delta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. was chartered on April 24, 1982, by 19 visionary women in Harford County.
These dedicated women devoted themselves to the enhancement of professional and personal growth. Their primary objective was to continue the legacy of our founders through providing service to the residents of Harford County.
Xi Delta Omega is dedicated to continuing our thrust to provide service to all mankind through our National ESP Program. Under this program are multiple sub-programs that encompass both professional and personal guidelines. Xi Delta Omega utilizes a holistic approach in providing community service, which empowers both the community and the chapter.
The chapter has been continually growing currently with a membership of over 50 sorors. We have maintained a partnership with many organizations throughout the Harford County area, e.g., Citizen Care and Rehabilitation Center, Sharing Table, Greek Letter Organization of Harford County, Edgewood Elementary School and Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County.
In 2007, the chapter was selected by the Harford County Human Relations Commission to receive its “Community Service Organization of the Year Award.” In 2008 at the North Atlantic Regional Conference, the chapter was recognized for its Reclamation of most Sorors in Cluster II. Additionally, in 2009 at the North Atlantic Regional Conference, the chapter received the “Heartbeat Award” for their Reclamation and Retention accomplishments and the Award for the Non-Traditional Entrepreneur Program.
Xi Delta Omega annually sponsors, “Sunset with the Arts” – Bringing the Arts to the Community. This event is provided to the community largely due to a grant procured by the chapter from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Harford County Government through the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.
Over the past 30 years since Xi Delta Omega has been chartered, we have awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving Harford County students.
