Scholarships

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be a Cecil or Harford County resident, you must me be accepted to attend or currently attending an accredited college or university, and you must have at least the minimum cumulative GPA for the scholarship for which you are applying. Additional qualifications are outlined below for each scholarship offered by the Xi Delta Omega chapter.

Sara E. Roye Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is valued at $3,000 and the recipient must meet the following criteria to qualify:

  • Be a Cecil or Harford County resident.

  • Be accepted to an accredited college/university.

  • Have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average.

  • Have Algebra (one year).

  • Have Natural or Physical Science (one year).

  • Have Foreign Language (one year).

  • A typewritten 250-word essay, "How I Can Make a Difference."

  • Two letters of recommendation from:

    • Guidance counselor or school faculty member; and

    • Organization representative for community/volunteer service.

  • Official transcript.

  • Copy of respective college/university acceptance letter. 

Mildred G. Stansbury Memorial Scholarship Award

This scholarship is valued at $2,000 and the recipient must meet the following criteria to qualify:

  • Be a Cecil or Harford County resident.

  • Be accepted to an accredited college/university.

  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

  • A typewritten 250-word essay, "How I Can Make a Difference."

  • Two letters of recommendation from:

    • Guidance counselor or school faculty member; and

    • Organization representative for community/volunteer service.

  • Official transcript.

  • Copy of respective college/university acceptance letter.

Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Scholarship

This scholarship is valued at $2,000 and the recipient must meet the following criteria to qualify:

  • Be a Cecil or Harford County resident.

  • Be accepted to an accredited Historically Black College or University.

  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

  • A typewritten 250-word essay, "How I Can Make a Difference."

  • Two letters of recommendation from:

    • Guidance counselor or school faculty member; and

    • Organization representative for community/volunteer service.

  • Official transcript.

  • Copy of respective college/university acceptance letter.

Doris G. Carey Honorary Book Award Scholarship

Scholarship valued at $1,000 and the recipient must meet the following criteria to qualify:

 

  • Be a Cecil or Harford County resident.

  • Be accepted to an accredited college/university.

  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

  • A typewritten 250-word essay, "How I Can Make a Difference."

  • Two letters of recommendation from:

    • Guidance counselor or school faculty member; and

    • Organization representative for community/volunteer service.

  • Official transcript.

  • Copy of respective college/university acceptance letter.
